Test cricket, One Day Internationals and T20 cricket share the same basic ideas of batting, bowling, runs and wickets. However, their match length, innings structure and number of overs can be very different.

Test
Long-form cricket played across multiple days, with each team able to have up to two innings.
ODI
One Day International cricket gives each team one innings of up to 50 overs.
T20

Understanding Cricket
Cricket is organised around two teams taking turns to bat and bowl. These basic terms appear regularly in match information, scorecards and cricket discussions.
Batting
The batting side attempts to score runs while protecting its wickets.
Bowling
The bowling side delivers the ball and attempts to dismiss batters while limiting runs.
Runs
Runs are the basic scoring unit used to build a team’s total.
Wickets
A wicket commonly refers to the dismissal of a batter and is recorded in the score.
Overs
An over normally consists of six valid deliveries bowled by the same bowler.
